Violin, Vola, Piano, Cello
Jacob Rodriguez has been playing the viola since 2015, the violin since 2022, and the piano since 2023. He focused primarily on the viola throughout grade school, later expanding his interests to include violin and piano during college.
Jacob holds an Associate's degree in Music from State College of Florida and is currently pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Viola Performance at the University of North Texas.
He has a wide range of performance experience, having played in weddings, recitals, chamber concerts, and competitions. Orchestrally, Jacob has performed in operas and musicals, and previously served as Principal Violist of the Bradenton Symphony Orchestra. He was also a sectional member of the Manatee Sarasota Pops Orchestra and currently serves as Principal Violist of the Concert Orchestra at the University of North Texas.
In addition to classical music, Jacob has performed with several cover bands, playing music by artists such as The Beatles, Dolly Parton, Elton John, and Frank Sinatra, among others. He has also had the opportunity to perform with one of the original understudies from the Wicked musical.
Jacob began teaching to share his passion for music with students of all ages. His goal is to help students grow beyond their current abilities and to approach music in a way that is both expressive and physically healthy. He emphasizes learning beyond the notes on the page and aims to ensure that students can play and perform comfortably and without pain. Jacob is committed to supporting his students through every challenge, helping them grow into confident, capable musicians.
