Violin, Viola
Alex Heidt began studying violin at 5 in a public elementary music program in Tampa, Florida. His early love for music inspired him to pursue teaching, and he started giving violin lessons while still in high school. Since then, Alex has gained extensive experience as a teacher and professional orchestral player. He has regularly performed with many orchestras throughout Florida and Georgia, such as the Naples Philharmonic and the Jacksonville Symphony. He has led sectionals for various youth orchestras and public schools. Alex received his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Central Florida and was honored with the prestigious Presser Scholar Award.
Aside from teaching violin, Alex also offers lessons in viola. On both instruments, Alex's primary goal is to build a strong technical foundation that enhances musicality while preventing tension and injury. However, what sets Alex apart is his belief in a collaborative approach to learning. He values student input and believes that the student's individual goals and interests should largely shape the direction of study. This respect for the student's individuality ensures a personalized and effective learning experience.
Now based in Dallas, Alex is pursuing a Performer's Diploma at Southern Methodist University and is excited to meet new students and share his passion for music! Outside of teaching and performing with orchestras, Alex has a deep love for chamber music, particularly the works of Schubert and Brahms. While he appreciates a wide variety of musical styles, he is currently captivated by the tone poems of Richard Strauss.
