Piano, Voice
Siyu Yang has been playing piano since 2003 and teaching piano since 2019. He was professional trained by pianists and pedagogues who emphasized the Russian methods. His current teacher is Andrey Ponochevny, who is a touring pianist, Siyu's past teachers include Eleanor Sokoloff, who was a faculty in the Curtis Institute of Music for over 83 years.
Siyu has a deep knowledge in classical performance and sight reading. He emphasizes the importance of technique and sound production through the mastery of finger power and dexterity from the start. He enjoys teaching students of all ages, from preschoolers to advanced concert pianists. He is currently pursuing his BA in Philosophy, and minoring in French and Music at the University of Dallas, a Catholic university dedicated in seeking Wisdom, Truth, and Virtue.
Siyu is fluent in Mandarin and French, is currently an infantryman in the US Army National Guard and is working towards becoming a special forces officer in the military through his University's ROTC program. He plans as well to apply as a Texas ranger after college. He treats everything he does as a source of enduring joy.
