Hunter Wilson
Clarinet, Flute

Hunter holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a primary emphasis in music from Texas A&M University-Commerce, where he studied clarinet under Mary Alice Druhan and Jody Webb. He was part of the 2015 Clarinet Colloquium world premiere of Ben Stonaker's Geometric Fragments No. 9, and the 2016 premiere of William Pitts' Turbo Scramjet arranged for saxophone quartet and wind ensemble. He currently performs with the McKinney Community Band.

Hunter has a plethora of teaching experience from teaching internationally in Japan, to assisting with a middle school band and teaching homeschooled students elementary music. For Hunter, teaching music is about providing the necessary tools for students to explore and express their own ideas and perspectives about the music being performed. His favorite part of teaching is witnessing those "Aha!" moments of growth when a student makes a connection between a new idea and something previously discussed. Musicians spend most of their time practicing alone, so Hunter hopes to establish as much independence in his students as possible.
