Julie Bowdren, soprano, began her studies as a jazz vocalist at Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, Massachusetts, where she was selected for the Honors Recital and Scholarship award while studying with Ellen Cogen. After deciding to take an additional year at the school, she studied classical voice for the first time under Eileen Ruby with whom she prepared her audition for the University of North Texas, having sung classically for just six months. Julie's audition was successful and she attended the University of North Texas, where in her first year she toured in the Czech Republic and Austria as a featured soloist in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, under the direction of Thomas Sovik. She performed in the acclaimed A Cappella Choir under Dr. Jerry McCoy, where she was a featured soloist while touring in South Korea for the Daejeon International Choral Festival and World Choral Symposium.

Julie currently teaches voice lessons to students of all ages. She is also a staff singer for the Cathedral Church of Saint Matthew, Dallas, TX and sings with the Cathedral's professional group; St Matthew Cathedral Arts Choral Artists, along with The Texas Voices, The Dallas Chamber Choir, Uptown Carolers and previously with Orchestra of New Spain.
