Duron Brooks
Piano, Organ, Saxophone

Duron Brooks has been musicially driven since he was very young. He started singing at age 4 and began playing the piano at age 12, after being inspired by the movie "Ray." Throughout his middle school and teen years, Duron fell more deeply in love with music, picking up the saxophone as a high school sophomore and quickly qualifying for State band. His participation in band earned him music scholarships to several universities, both for Marching Band and for Jazz. He chose to further his education at Grambling State University, where he studied Music Education and Music Performance.

Teaching comes naturally to Duron. During his college years, he often found himself teaching youth choirs, high school bands, and tutoring and mentoring young pianists. He quickly found that he had a powerful, positive connection with his students, and it was clear that teaching was his calling. Mr. Brooks strives to be the teacher for his students that he had always wanted for himself. He is committed to being there for his students and supporting them in every way possible.

Mr. Brooks helps his students learn by thinking outside the box of traditional lessons, striving to make his lessons both fun and effective. He understands that not all students learn in the same way, and he has a natural gift for finding creative ways to best help each individual student to grasp concepts, retain information, and progress toward their musical goals.

Duron currently works as a full-time classroom music teacher and teaches private lessons in piano, organ and saxophone. When he is not teaching, he performs as a gigging musician for weddings, parties, and other events, in addition to playing at his church every Sunday. A highlight of his musical career was travelling to Washington, D.C., to march in the parade for President Barack Obama's inauguration. He has also played behind such artists as John Legend and Kim Burrell.
