Lucas Heuer,  affectionately known as Luc to his students, embarked on his musical journey in his Middle  School choir. Then, as a freshman in High School, he started playing in bands with his friends and really fell in love with music. His first instrument was guitar, but shortly after, he began playing piano and experimented with electronic music production and recording.

Luc studied Audio Recording and Music Production at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. He had the opportunity to play with and record many local bands and musicians in Olympia and host his own radio show at the College station.

After college, he served as an  English Teacher in the Peace Corps in Cameroon (West Africa). In the  Peace Corps, he learned a lot about teaching and found teaching to be something gratifying and fun. He taught English classes with up to  75 students in the classroom at one time! In Cameroon, he also had the opportunity to learn from and play with acclaimed Cameroonian musician  Idy Oulo. Idy is a Cameroonian musician living in France who has released successful albums and played at music festivals, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

One highlight of his career came while attending Piano Technology school in  Chicago. He was browsing through some records at a local record shop and came across an album he had played on in college and didn't even know had been released on vinyl. Independent record labels in both the US and Europe have released his original music and collaborations with other artists.

The most influential teacher he has ever had might be a songwriting teacher at the Berklee College of Music's Online program. He encouraged him and gave him the tools and confidence he needed to continue his songwriting journey.

Luc's teaching philosophy is rooted in his desire for every student to grasp the fundamentals of music and cultivate a sense of curiosity and fun. He believes that these qualities are essential in helping students overcome the challenges of learning music and playing an instrument. With patience, understanding, and a deep passion for  the art of music, he guides his students on a journey of discovery and enjoyment.
